An updated SFH in the heart of Takoma DC

We renovated this wonderful SFH in Takoma DC in 6 weeks to sell. It was sold in 4 days. When designing the renovation, we wanted to mix the old with new so we could maintain the charm of this 1930s construction home. We kept the doors, mouldings, and floors and just prettied them up a bit to make them shine. Since DC weather can be extreme at times, we decided it would be best to install a two-zone, high efficiency HVAC system for both heating and cooling for all four levels. We modernized the kitchen and opened it up to the dining room, created a walkout deck from the dining room with big sliding glass doors, and installed dimmable recessed lighting on the entire first floor. For cabinetry, I love the high-quality and style of Kraftmaid cabinetry and I always love a little fanciness from Porcelanosa for the backsplash. We renovated all of the bathrooms with ceramic tile floors and walls.  When living in the city, private backyard space is a premium. So we sodded and fenced the entire yard  - it's a really beautiful and spacious backyard.
